About The Artist

Meet Zulema Seguel, a talented potter who creates stunning and unique pieces of art that are imbued with a deep connection to the natural world and feminine energy. With a focus on altered wheel thrown pots and a passion for firing them in atmospheric kilns, Zu has developed a signature style that is both organic and soulful.
Zulema found the pottery during a challenging time in her life when she needed both a creative outlet and a supportive community. Pottery gifted her both. Sitting down at the wheel felt like coming home and what started off as a diversion quickly became a passion. Over the years, she developed a deep understanding of the medium and began to experiment with different techniques and firing methods to create pieces that were both visually striking and spiritually meaningful.
Today, Zu specializes in altered wheel-thrown pots that are fired in atmospheric kilns, a process that involves using wood or other organic materials to create unique patterns and textures on the surface of the clay. Putting the potter in pyromania, this method allows Zu to create pieces that are truly one-of-a-kind, with each piece telling its own story through the marks left by flames and smoke.
For Zu, however, the process of creating pottery is about more than just aesthetics. It is also a deeply spiritual practice that helps her tap into her creative self-expression through the infinite possibilities offered in shaping clay. Each piece is created with intention and purpose, and is a testament to the transformative power of art and the sacredness of the natural world.
